MOBILE DISPLAY SYSTEM
modular retail
The Mobile Display System is a modular retail system designed to be easily deployable within urban environments. With every element of the system on wheels, its compact size allows for adaptable retail configurations for various events and venues.
Materiality
We chose to utilize T-slotted aluminum framing for the general project build. The lightweight, resilient, and corrosion resistant qualities of aluminum made it a key proponent in realizing our design.
This choice in materiality keeps the store visually minimal and places emphasis on retail merchandise.
Rather than just designing a pop-up store, we imagined a system that could adapt to different retail events and offer a more dynamic shopping experience. Additional modules expand store presence, allowing for custom layout configurations that offer greater visibility and product placement.
While acting as the delivery system, the point of sale cart also serves as the physical and emotional anchor of the store.
Spatial Strategy
01 Module 1 + 2
Two L-shaped modules that fold flat. Each module features a clothing rack, and steel mesh for hanging various products.
The Mobile Display System is comprised of 4 major modules. Each lightweight module is operable by a single individual with locking hinges and self-leveling feet for added safety.

03 Mirror
One modified module fitted with two full-length mirrors.
04 Table
Folding table measuring 60” x 30” x 30”. Locking hinges allow for simple installation and dismantle.
05 Storage Box
Optional element provided to the client. Heavy-duty storage boxes for university merch. Can be used to brace modules for extra security during harsher weather conditions.
Two boxes can be stacked on top of the cart without affecting overall dimensions during transport.
The heart of the system, the cart serves as the modules’ transport. Large, pivoting casters allow for adequate maneuvering between tight spaces like corridors and elevator entrances. When collapsed, all four modules sit on the rear legs of the cart.
With the system deployed, the cart transforms into the point of sale. Additional two-tiered cabinets were added for stocking inventory and miscellaneous storage.
